I want to add new files to existing products and let old customers be able to see/download them.
Same thing if I delete files, the customers should not see them in the download list. Is that possible? Any plugin?

  • Hi @waleedovkh !

Adding a new download does not affect past orders. Only new purchasers gain permission to download it. This feature was removed in WooCommerce 3.0.

If you have products that grant ‘lifetime access’ or similar to all downloads added to a product, a subscription or membership may be more appropriate.

Alternatively, you could edit the existing downloadable file with an archive (zip) that combines all files into a single one. If you want to restore previous functionality, there is a plugin available here.

    I hope this helps! ??

For example, I have an E-Book that I sold to 100 people. Then I added a chapter to that e-book. I thought it would be simple to replace the file and ask customers to redownload it. But it seems so complicated to do in WooCommerce. Am I wrong?

    Hi @waleedovkh

If you want customers to be able to redownload the book after you’ve updated it then you may need to notify them manually with a direct link for download.

The plugin suggested by my colleague seems to do the job, but for support you need to get in touch with the plugin developer for clarity. This particular forum is for questions that are directly related to the features and functionality of core WooCommerce.
