• Hi there,

    since a couple of weeks I’m having a new design on my WP and it’s beautiful, but some things are just not working right.

    For example: Smilies in comments. They are shown under the comment box, but when you klick on them just nothing happens and when you fill in the smilie code it’ll not be generated to the smilie.
    Well, I could live with that, but my readers complaining a lot^^

    What really bothers me is that when I try to link a new article on Facebook, in the linkbox below it URL is shown instead the name of the article which just doesn’t look nice. And the thumbnail is not there at all or random chosen, which happens that it won’t fit this article.

    I tried to contact the design maker but I get no replys, I also installed some Plugins like “Advanced excerpt” or Plugins alike, but none seems to solve my problem.
    I would not even having a problem to have one universal Thumbnail, since I’m not working that much with pictures anyway and I would really like to have the article name shown when I link it on Facebook.

    I was looking for other designs but I really like it and I actually don’t want to change it.

    Has anybody an idea?

  • Can you post a link to your site? Makes things a lot easier ??

    YEah sure ?? It’s https://mrssimple.de/wordpress/

    According to Stack Overflow the following information is used for the Facebook links:

    <meta name="title" content="Title NOT Case Sensitive" />
    <meta name="description" content="Description HERE" />
    <link rel="image_src" href="Full URL to Image (include domain)" />

    Are you able to add these in? Take a look at Yoast’s SEO Plugin, that might do it for you.

    You might also find this other post on Stack Overflow helpful.

    As for the smilies, what’s your settings at in the Dashboard for Settings > Writing > Formatting ?

    Hey, thanks :o)
    I’ve installed the Plug In – it still doesn’t change the title though but at least there’s a thumbnail now and the post doesn’t look that nked anymore^^

    But in the settings of the Plugin I put a “yes” on “use meta tags” but nothing’s changed. If only I could write HTML on FB, that would solve my problems^^ But well, you can’t get anything right?
    And as for the Smilies, I have the formation on, but this is a Smilie Plug In with different Smilies and they are like :happy: – in the article itself it works, it’s just the comments where the smilies don’t work, not even things like ??

    It’s just crazy how all of this changed because of a new design. I used to think that the basic of all designs is the same, that it’s actually just the design that’s changed.
    I’ve installed so many designs which didn’tw orked out as I have seen them on the pages I’be got them, like pictures that were supposed to change just don’t change and I was just like “What’s wrong with me?” and then I found this design and I really like it and I’ve checked everything before I changed the colors and pictures, but I didn’t checked the FB Linking^^

    Anyway, thanks, at least a step further and happy new year :o)
