    Hello!

We are using WooCommerce on WordPress page, and we have in WooCommerce the Braintree gateway.
We are building a new webshop, using dummy customer accounts, and using the testing credit cards data of Braintree.

We have found an issue with customers changing a new credit card into an existing and on-going subscription of our product.
Essentially, when customer goes to the subscription, and he has 2 options, either to 1) Add a new card or 2) use another card, which has already been saved on the customer’s account page.
We have 3DS enabled in our Braintree. No CVV or Postal codes are required.

When doing the 1) scenario, an error message of “verifyCard options must include an amount.” appears.

When doing the 2) scenario, an error message of “”The data passed to the 3D Secure provider was in invalid format. Please check your entries for invalid values.”

We are using Braintree test card numbers, and these card details are OK for making new purchases, including subscriptions. But they cannot be put to an existing subscriptions. With PayPal there is no issue for updating that as the new payment method to such subscription.
    What can we do?

    Hi @owrnd,

Thanks for writing in with your issue! I’d like to take a closer look at the subscription product setup and get some more details on the exact steps you’re running so I can try and replicate this locally too.

To start with, could you please share a screenshot of the subscription product that you’re purchasing/changing the card for? That would be a great help in case there are any WooCommerce Subscriptions specific settings at play.

Next, could you please list me the steps you were using to test these two scenarios? For instance, first purchase a subscription, then navigate to my account > subscriptions. If you could include screenshots here too, that would also be really helpful.

Once I have this information I can try and replicate this locally and take a closer look for you. Could you let me know when you have a moment to provide this?

    Cheers!

    Simon.

    Hello Simon!

    Thank you for speedy response!
We looked at this internally with the team, and we are trying to avoid this issue by redesigning the user flow on payment method selection.
However, in case we need to get back to this, may I inquire how could we solve this in more private way, so we do not need to send screenshots and other information on a public forum?

Also, with this new way that we wish to handle this issue, we would like to know if it is possible to add PayPal to the “Payment methods” view on user account? We have both credit cards and PayPal enabled on our Braintree plugin on WooCommerce, but only credit cards show up in this view. So customers can only add a credit card, when they go to “My account”->”Payment methods”-> “Add payment method”
=> How can we add PayPal here?

I can also make another thread about this, if it is tidier that way.

    Hey @owrnd,

Thanks for letting me know! That’s no problem if you want to contact us directly, especially dealing with sensitive information. You can raise a support request via our support form, or alternatively, raise a new support request via your WooCommerce.com account too! Either will send us an email that we can then follow up with directly for you.

As for your last question, I had a quick test on my local install, and I am seeing the PayPal option when adding a new payment method via My Account > Payment Methods > Add Payment Method: https://cloud.skyver.ge/GGurqXXm

Is this not being shown on your site?

    Cheers!

    Simon.
