I created a new CPT, “PortFolio Entries” in a clean website. The new CPT is not being displayed in the left hand dashboard menus.

However, the new CPT is showing in the dashboard’s top “+ New” menu items. I can add new entries which are appearing under Appearance > Menu > PortFolio Entries list and
accessible in Elementor Pro’s Template page builder as shown in the attached link.

    T-shooting:

    • Deleted and recreated other CPTs
    • Changed the slug.
    • Changed the menu position
    • Switched the Dash icon
    • Enabled Debug Logging: No Errors reported

Can I tweak the Db to manually “repair” the menu item record?

    Any Suggestion?

WP and all CPT plugins are up to date.

What happens when you remove the menu_position value completely, just let it default by being left blank?

That’s the only thing standing out to me. There’s no database value storing menu positions, so nothing to clear there.

I tried that as part of the earlier t-shooting.
I’ve never run into this issue before.

Really doubt it is the theme. OceanWP has been rock solid and I couldn’t find any related issues in their community.

And of course it has to happen on “my” new portfolio website.

Bingo, it’s the value you’re putting in the input, right below the dropdown shown in this screenshot that’s throwing things off.

Unless you’re purposely trying to make it a submenu item, probably best to leave that field blank.

    Thank you very much Michael.
I had exactly the same problem and wondered if I was going to have to slash and burn through my other plugins to sort it out.
You saved us all a lot of time and stress so thanks for posting this insight!

CPT UI is a very handy tool so I wish all health and wealth to the developers in the future.
