new config.php caused a new installation of wordpress

I changed the password on my server and then changed the config file and uploaded it. When accessing the site it redirected me to the backend where it was setup like a new installation where I had to type title etc. any idea how I can get back my site and not the new installation? It seems all the files are still on the server.
