I got a new computer, and now I can’t seem to upload any files to my blog. Do I need to re-download WordPress onto my new computer? I don’t think I transferred the file from my old one. Or is there something I have to do with Safari to make it work with WordPress? I have Safari 5.0.3. Please help!

  • I’m a bit confused by your question. Are you hosting WordPress locally for development, or are you referring to uploading files to WordPress on your webserver through WP-Admin?

Uploading media files (pictures, videos, etc) to WordPress through the WP-Admin in a web browser requires the Flash Player browser plugin, which I’ve heard Apple isn’t shipping with new Macs. Go to the Adobe website and download the latest version of Flash Player. Or, you can use the “browser uploader” version alternate option.

If you are running WordPress locally, you’ll have to set the file permissions on your computer along with the localhost apache settings.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply! I’m talking about uploading files to WordPress through WP-Admin, sorry. I went to Adobe and downloaded Flash Player, then installed it, but uploading photos still isn’t working. The upload box shows up just fine (but it will only allow me to choose one photo at a time, evidently no command-click for selecting multiple anymore), but when I choose a photo and click upload, absolutely nothing happens. What is this “browser uploader” option?

I take that back…I closed and re-opened Safari, and now it’s working just like normal again…thank you! Please see my website for some virtual thank-you-cookies
