I just realized that for awhile now, new comment notifications were not being triggered. They are not even in the e-mail log (via Post SMTP). I have gone over all the settings repeatedly, but nothing stands out that might be causing this. I’m going to assume that it has to do with the new Gutenberg editor. I use the option in TinyMCE Advanced to replace the Gutenberg editor with the classic editor.

Is that what’s causing the problem?

For now, I’ve had to disable the BNFW plugin and just suffice using the native WordPress notification e-mails (which they should provide a way for us to customize!).

    Hi @brandonw-1,
    Thanks for your message.

I’ve been testing comment notifications extensively for the 1.7.3 release of BNFW that was issued yesterday and I haven’t run into any issues with this.

I don’t think which post editor you use (Block Editor, Classic Editor, etc.) should be causing issues with comment notifications though.

Do you have the notifications set-up correctly as per the details under ‘New Comment’ section of this page: https://betternotificationsforwp.com/documentation/notifications/types-of-notification/

You know – I guess not. They were initially setup as “New Comment.” Is “New Comment – Awaiting Moderation” a new option from a handful of versions ago? I’m created those templates well over a year ago and they did work, once upon a time. I set it and forget it, so never bothered to check it again after I knew they were working way back then…

    Hi @brandonw-1,
    No probs.

Yes, the notification was separated back in version 1.7. Are you able to set these up again from scratch and see if this fixes the issue for you?

Let me know how you get on.

Yes, I will try creating new templates now. It’s frustrating that this was changed without taking into account previous setups. Though I can appreciate the granular effort put into options for triggers.

With the change, it would be nice if I could select more than one trigger for an existing template, rather than have to recreate a bunch of duplicate templates for various triggers.

    Hi @brandonw-1,
In my testing this issue didn’t occur so not sure why it is for you but regardless, you can use a duplicate post plugin to duplicate the notifications more easily. I haven’t provided a way to ‘bulk create’ notifications as each notification is different and provides different settings and shortcodes, even when they seems similar – New Comment and Comment Reply, for example.

    Hope this makes sense.

Totally makes sense. But there are definite occasions where a single template might need to be sent for multiple triggers, so having the ability to select more than one trigger would be great.

At the very least, it would be great to have an option to clone an existing template. Would make things much easier, without having to install yet another plugin.

@brandonw-1 Agreed, the latter is on the roadmap.
