New comment notification stopped working

    I’m very happy with the new comment options in the latest release of
    BNFW. The comment moderation notification works like a charm.

    However, the regular new comment notification has stopped working for me
    entirely. Even if I create a brand new notification, nothing gets
    delivered to my inbox. The test mail works fine, though. It seems the
    notification simply isn’t triggered.

    I use the new comment notifications for custom post types, but even a
    new notification for a regular post doesn’t produce any mails.

    And one other thing: apparently, BNFW decides which language to use for
    the interface based on the site language. I think a better option would
    be to use the language that is specified in the user options.

    Thanks for your message.

    That’s odd. I tested this feature extensively and was able to trigger all the notifications via a variety of methods – new comments, new posts, everything.
    Are you using an SMTP and/or email log plugin, such as Post SMTP to aid with email deliverability?

    A good idea on the language selection, thanks. I’ll add being able to select a language from the Settings to the roadmap.

    It is odd, especially because the comment notifications worked fine before I upgraded today – and as I said, comment moderation notifications do work.

    I tried different email adresses as well (I’m using your Send to Any Email add-on), just to make sure it wasn’t something to do with email deliverability.

    And no, no smtp of email log plugins involved.

    I’m also using your Custom Fields add-on. Maybe that could be a factor here?

    Oops… Please disregard everything I just wrote. I was having a brain meltdown.

    I expected the new comment notifications to work the same way as before, but they are of course only triggered by comments that DON’T need moderation. Quite logical, otherwise you would receive two notifications for some comments.

    Sorry about the false alarm, and creating unnecessary confusion…

    Not a problem! Glad you got it working.

    You may wish to install Post SMTP and use their email log anyway – it’s a super helpful plugin when used in conjunction with BNFW and helps to improve email deliverability anyway.
