• I just installed the beta version of “Stop Spammers” plugin from your website and then used the “Admin Username Changer” plugin to change the default Admin username to a new one. The username change seems to be effective, because I can logout and back in with the new name. However, the “Stop Spammers” plugin still has a red warning on the options page stating “Your current ID is ‘admin’. This is very dangerous. …”

Deactivating and reactivating “Stop Spammers” didn’t correct the problem.

False alarm! The “Admin Username Changer” plugin is not compatible with the current version of WordPress and wasn’t changing everything correctly. Instead of using that plugin, the admin username can be changed easily with the following steps:

    1) Create a new user account with admin access.

    2) Logout and then back in using the new username.

    3) Delete the original admin user account.

After doing that the red warning message on the “Stop Spammers Plugin Options” page disappears.

I didn’t write the plugin and id doesn’t work for MU installs. I might also be an issue for BBPress. I’ll look at the code and see if I can figure out if it is worth while to re-do the plugin so that it works better.
