    Hi Jordy,

I’ve been tasked to remove unused images from a very large media library. I tried the free version of your plugin. It never gets past the “Preparing medias…” message.

Does the pro version of Media Cleaner work better with large libraries?
If so, I’ll buy it now!

If not, then what’s the solution? Remove each image manually?

    Thank you,
    Jason

    Hi,

It will not work better with the Pro (I wouldn’t do that, it wouldn’t be fair for my users).

Large Media Library are a problem as simple SQL requests might even fail depending on your config, but I would like to make it work on all of them. Did you try with less options checked? Did you check your Error Logs?

Thanks for responding so quickly, Jordy —?that’s really nice of you!

I unchecked ALL of the options, actually – just to see if it would help.

Also, I did see some strange messages in the error logs. Could be related to a setting on the server.

[msg “Restricted SQL Character Anomaly Detection Alert – Total # of special characters exceeded”] [data “Matched Data: & found within REQUEST_COOKIES:wp-settings-2: editor=tinymce&libraryContent=browse&dfw_width=822&imgsize=full&ed_size=374&align=center&advImgDetails=hide&posts_list_mode=list&mfold=o&post_dfw=on”] [ver “OWASP_CRS/2.2.9”] [maturity “9”] [accuracy “8”] [tag “OWASP_CRS/WEB_ATTACK/SQL_INJECTION”] [hostname “preview.removedSiteName.com”] [uri “/wp-content/plugins/media-cleaner/media-cleaner.css”] [unique_id “removedUniqueIdea”]

Is it the only thing you see in your PHP Error Logs? Are you sure that is the PHP Error Logs? That’s a very unusual/strange error.

Actually I might know why the plugin is crashing in your side and might have a fix for it, I am trying to push a new version now. But this message is still weird :/

I pushed a new version. Can you try it? It might help, but I am not so sure since the error message you get here is a bit… exotic ??

Maybe there’s another place to find logs? Usually I check in debug.log, but I didn’t see anything related to media cleaner in there.

I kept searching, and found that message on the server error logs. There were several just like it.

I’ll try the new version now, and see if it works.

Just tried the newest version. Still doesn’t work. I get a 500 server error in the inspector, but that’ s not too helpful. I’ll hunt around for more logs/error information.

Thanks for your help —?it’s much appreciated!

Yes, the inspector will probably not give you much :/ Only the PHP Error Logs can help us. Please have a look and I will try my best ??
