Neve Starter Site Demo Content Doesn’t Work

I am looking to purchase a business or even professional license for a WordPress template, and Neve is at the top of my consideration.

I do my development locally on an Ubuntu Linux LAMP server. PHP 7.3/MySQL 8.0.19/Apache2.4.41.

I set up the LAMP environment, installed WordPress, and installed the Neve template v. 2.6.2 just fine. But when I go to import the Starter Site/Demo content, it doesn’t work–no matter what example I use, no matter what builder. It allows me to click Import, and it successfully completes each step, but once I click on View Site, I get the generic black-and-white site with the usual “Hello World” content. I’ve tried changing the home page, making the home page a blog, etc., but nothing works.

I decided to try and install Neve on a domain I have parked but don’t use. It installed quickly. This time, I imported the Freelancer Starter Site easily and correctly.

Please help me figure out what is going on that I can install the Site Library Starter Site on a live site, but can’t on my localhost LAMP setup.
