network plugins not working on multi-site

  • I have multi-site set up with subdomains. I am running C-panel and I have one primary site and 4 subsites set up as subdomains. My sites show up in the network manager, but they don’t seemed to be linked otherwise. My primary reason for setting up multi site was so that my sites could share plugins and plug-in permissions but this does not seem to be working. My primary site is working fine and has all the plug-ins it is supposed to, and the plug-ins show up on my network manager and have the option to “Network Activate” and “Deactivate” but each subsite has its own set of plugins adn is not getting fed the plugins from the primary site. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

    If you network enable the plugins from the “Network Admin” it means the plugins will be used in all the network website including the primary website.

    Even after network enabling the plugins you will find the plugin in de-activated state in their respective admin as these options only work for the site itself only and not others.

    Eg: If a plugin is activated in one of the network website then it will be applicable to that site itself and not all sites , but if a plugin is network activated then it is activated for all websites.

    Also each plugin settings have to be done individually in their network website seperately even if they are network enabled through the “Network Admin” as settings of the plugins are stored site wise and not globally.

    Yes – I actually have done that but when I network activate the plugins from the network admin, they show up only on the primary website as activated and not at all on any of the networked secondary websites. I’m pretty sure it is something wrong in the way I have it set up from the hosting side, but I can’t figure out what. I have tried to get help from our provider (Go Daddy) but they point me towards WordPress. No help there either…

    When a plugin is network activated, only Super Admins will see the network activated plugins. Regular administrators will not see the plugins.

    They must be previously activated in the primary website before setting up multi-site. De-activate all the plugins from the primary site and then network activate the plugins from the network admin.
