I noticed that if I wanted to mark a blog or user as spam, delete them, or any of the other links that appear when you mouse over the title it doesn’t work.

The links for those options fail and promptly return me to the Network Dashboard. The only way I can mark a blog as spam is to use the Bulk Update Drop Down.

Specifically I am talking about the links that appear when you mouse over a blog title or user name such as Edit, Spam, Delete, etc from the network admin panels.

I briefly updated and when I saw how the admin search had been dumped and other little things I decided to go back to 3.05.

Has anyone else tried to use these admin links yet? I hope I am not the only one!

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Yes, you can disable it.

But it had to have been set up manually, so *someone* enabled it. that’s all we’re saying.

Edit: it just occurred to me – how did you install BuddyPress? With Simple Scripts? Because that’s probably why.

Thank you for the link Andrea, no I did not set that up, I believe it changed in an update. you are exactly right, my server has simple scripts and a separate buddypress install from the wordpress install, however in the initial buddypress install I did not have multisite in the dashboard, until recently this multisite or Super Admin section was not in my dashboard at all. thank you very much for your help. lin

Yeah, that’s what did it then. SimpleScripts, like Fantastico, does weird things.

and a separate buddypress install f

And that’s why I dislike Simple Scrips.

Buddypress is NOT a separate install.

    it’s a WORDPRESS plugin.

they set you up with wpmu first, now called multisite. that’s why you see it when you upgraded. BuddyPress used to be for wpmu only.

BuddyPress will not and cannot run without wordpress.

But! BuddyPress can and WILL run with SingleSite WordPress ??

    Exactly. ??

I would prefer buddypress as a plugin simply b/c I cannot change to another social network plugin without possibly loosing my users and files (not sure I can copy all files in the file manager in my hosting). I am new to wp this year, not a coder. I tried 3 hosting services that claimed they had the proper requirements for wp & bp when in fact they did not, which created many issues.

Okay, this is what we’re telling you – you’re already running wordpress. you’re already using buddypress as a plugin.

I already gave you a link above describing how to disable the network part.

That;s all you need to do.

I tried 3 hosting services that claimed they had the proper requirements for wp & bp when in fact they did not,

There’s a difference in them saying they support the plugin and will let you install it there, and their support team actually helping you with issues.

Andrea, yes I understand exactly what I am running. I did not ask more questions only commenting, and I thanked you for the link. …
About the hosting services claiming they had the proper requirements for actually hosting wp/bp, nothing to do with tech support it was about the hosting requirements and allowing mod_rewrite and htaccess, which they did not permit. therefore the buddypress never worked-
    tks, again.
