• Hey all,
I was wondering if someone might know where i’ve gone wrong,

I’m following a friend’s guide on how to create a wordpress site to your own server, and using a custom them (by duplicating a basic one),

anyway, he set one up for me, and it worked a treat, i was editing page-home.php (a duplicate of page) and the style.css,

BUT now i am trying to redo the process, i am left with a “Network Admin” button at the top of the wordpress dashboard, which was not there when he set his up.

I have saved the site in a sub folder on my server, https://www.alexmosesmultimedia.com/wp1

This is a problem because no changes i make to the page-home.php are effective, any ideas?

  • Hi,

Its hard to help you since you didn’t gave any information about what changes did you made. Since you told that you have saved the site in a sub folder, why don’t you copy all the files to your existing directory which will fix everything.

Ahh i don’t think you quite get what i mean, the changes i made to the code are irrelevant because they’re not being shown,

When i was first given a wordpress site to work on, which was set up on a personal server, in wordpress dashboard, in the top left corner, a button says <home icon>”webb perfomance” (which is the name of the site), if clicked, it shows the option of “visit site”,

now i have tried to set up the same thing for another site, i am left with the button saying <key icon>”my sites”, <home icon>”my blog”

My question is, why is there a key icon? and because my custom (duplicated) theme is activated on ‘network admin’ under the button ‘my sites’, i am unable to use it for my blog,

Is there a way i can simply change/customize my wordpress setup to just have <home icon>”my blog” as a button in the dashboard?

    thanks!
