Hello. Why a second, nested Group block is need it in order to access align (none, widewidth, full width) option?

(is this a good place for asking this kind of questions?)

Hi @solarian-ian – could you tell me what type of block you’re trying to align where you’re not seeing an alignment option before grouping it?

This forum is intended for the standalone Gutenberg plugin, rather than questions about the core block editor, but it’s also fine to ask this here. :

I would also add that sometimes it is rather dependent on whether you have layout “Inner blocks use content width” switch on or off.

But in general, I asked about the logic of showing/hiding width settings for the blocks and it turned out that there’s a deep (but I would personally say “strange”) logic behind that so it is a feature of Gutenberg when you got this option shown or not totally unpredictable.

    Hi, @zoonini!

Indeed, you are right, when edit a page/post and wrapping in a group some paragraphs, align option is there.

The need to nest a group in a group in order to access the align option occurs when one edit a block theme, the Header for instance.

So, I guuess I should find a block theme forum.
    Thank you!

@solarian-ian You could try posting in your theme’s forum. Be sure to provide a link to your site so folks can take a look directly. I’m still not sure which block you’re not seeing alignment options for. ??

In a Header part template of a block theme, you can group a logo, a site title and a navigation. this group parent of logo, site title and navigation has no align optios.

Thanks for clarifying. In Twenty Twenty-Two’s Header template part, it’s the outermost Row element that has the alignment options:
