Needs Valid Email ID

I am testing the latest version of the plugin (4.1.6) and I set up a “test” auction.
I have configured a valid email address for bid submissions and I am testing it as a logged in user.
Yet when I click on “Place Bid” I get a popup that says “Please enter a valid email ID”.
Can the system not detect the logged in user’s email address?
What am I missing?
