My web host added the SparkPost IP address to their firewall, but they opened port 2525 and not 587. The plugin only works with port 587. There needs to be a configuration item to select port 2525. So in the meantime, I have no choice but to use Easy WP SMPT because it allows me to enter the port.

I created a new version of the plugin that provides a radio button to select port 587 or 2525. Please let me know if you want the revisions.

Hi Victor – that’s awesome thank you so much for taking the time to do that. We’re working on publishing a new version as I type this that fixes this and another issue we saw pop up. We’ll post here again as soon as it’s available.

OK 1.1.5 has been published which adds the ability to select 2525 as the port. Let us know if anything else pops up.

    Hi richleland,

Is there any advantage to using the SparkPost plugin vs. the Postman SMTP plugin? I’m a first-time SparkPost user and just finished installing the Postman SMTP plugin to work with SparkPost and it’s working well so far.

    Hi Sparkpost team,

I saw the settings page has been updated so the port can be selected.
In dev-env the sparkpost tab now shows this php warning:

Notice: Undefined index: port in /wp-content/plugins/sparkpost/widget.class.php on line 211

Probably just a small thing to fix.

jamesallensda – yeah Postman SMTP will work – we’re going to be working on having the plugin use the API instead due to some issues some users are having related to ports being blocked on their hosting providers. I’m glad to hear that’s working well for you!

Jarich – thanks for the report – we’ll look into it!

richleland – Ah, ok. Sounds good – best of luck to you guys with all the new users coming over from Mandrill!

I think this issue no longer exists as you can select port for SMTP or send over HTTP. If there is still issue, please create an issue over github issue tracker and/or reach us out at wordpress channel on our community slack channel

    Happy sending :).
