Actually, yes. That is, if you have good and legitimate content. The age of linkfarms and webrings is long-gone. If your content is good enough, you will be listed towards the top of most major search engine results, and this is where the majority of your one-time visitors come from. How to keep those one-time visitors as returning visitors is up to you. But, since you feel like being such a smart ass, I suppose you already knew that.

The only other recommendation that I could give you is to add your URL to your profile’s signature in whatever forum(s) that you post regularly on. Signature URLs tend to draw the attention of other forum regulars. Do not spam the forums or any other site for that matter. That will get you banned from those particular forums, sites, and sometimes search engines. Then you’ll be up Shit Creek without a paddle.

Who are you doing this ‘net thing’ for ? In the end it HAS to be YOU.
Just enjoy doing whatever it is you want and visitor numbers will increase. And why measure success by numbers ? What would you rather have :
10,000 visitors and no comments on your blog
1,000 visitors and 20 comments on your blog.
I’ll take the second every time.

There is no magic formula.
If you are in this just for visitors, then delete everything and go do something else instead.
If you are in this because you enjoy doing it, then why do visitors matter ?

You need to work hard to get extra visitors:
-Gathering backlinks -any link helps nut not from link farms
-Blogging
-Writing interesting articles
Optimising your web site (speed speed speed speed and speed)
-Accessible design – no extra fancy shabangs

Heh…. a year and 3 months on, he’s either got his 10k uniques, or gone on to something else, guys….
