Need tutorial post/ forum/ ebook/ video to edit themes once they are installed.

I had now installation problems and all is great with getting to know wordpress. But I am keen to get into the nitty gritty of editing a theme I bought so it looks like it did when I bought it, images sliders and all! I am willing to learn, just need a well advised source. Please help. Thanks
