Need to use some ID's in themes?

Hi guys…. I’m just working on integrating my first custom design into WordPress and was wondering can I basically just use the code as-is from the coded design or do I have to make sure to change certain elements to what WP generally uses such as (page, main, primary, secondary, footer etc) ?
