Need to upgrade

  • I’m currently using the v.3.0 of wordpress and need to upgrade. I need some advice from experts and people who have ugraded before on what steps I need to take for a successful upgrade. ANy help you provide asap will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Backup your database, deactivate all plugins and use the automatic upgrade from your backend. Then reactivate your plugins and you are all set!

    If you want to do it manually then:

    1) Backup your database and deactivate all plugins
    2) Download the newest WP version
    3) Delete all files/folders EXCEPT wp-config.php and wp-content
    4) Upload the newest WP version via FTP
    5) Run the database script at https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/upgrade
    6) Done!

    DO NOT DELETE wp-config.php OR wp-content!!!!!
