• I’m helping my wife with an issue on her website. She has a static front page (Home) and blog posts are listed on another page (Blog).

She just updated the text on the page Home. When she goes to share the link to her site (either just the top-level URL, or pathing to /home) on Facebook, Twitter, or other social media, the automatically generated excerpt that is brought across is taken from the original text of the page, not the updated text.

I found a way to enable the excerpt field in the page editor by adding code to functions.php. We tried that, and the custom excerpt still is not showing when we share the page.

I haven’t tried looking for a plug-in route to try to fix this yet, as I’m hoping that there’s a way to force a WordPress to regenerate the excerpt natively.

    Theme: Bouquet
Plugins: Akismet; Hotfix; JetPack; Mailpoet Newsletters; Password Protected (currently not activated); Regenerate Thumbnails; TinyMCE Advanced; WooCommerce; WooCommerce Product Archive Customiser; WP Super Cache (currently not activated)

  • i had a look at your site.
i suggest using WordPress SEO by Yoast. thats the easiest and best way out for you IMHO.
you can give custom SEO titles and Meta Description for every post and page.
also for homepage, you can set meta values separately.
once you enable the plugin, you can find the settings on the dashboard to the left under ‘SEO’ tab. needs a bit of getting used to, but worth the effort.
