• Hi

I need to set file permissions – can’t write to template/themefiles.
I have no prob with ftp and chmod etc, but i just need to know which file to change so that i can write to these files.

I did an upgrade to 2.8 and it broke an area of the site which uses Memberwing and G-Lock plugins. So i rolled the install back with my backups and all is in place again and working, except for being able to write to these files.

    Thanks in advance!

AFAIK, 604 is the standard permissions level, no ? With this, the admin can read and edit and the visitors can read.

An exception, because plugins need to modify this, my .htaccess has a files right level 705 (admin can read and edit and execute, visitors can read).

Regarding the wp-content folder theme files, I believe 705 is the proper chmod for you to edit them.

I don’t know which file to apply chmod to for the wp-content folder theme files – can you tell me that please?

I just can’t edit the Main Index Template (index.php) file.
