First thing you should do is to create a child theme of your 2011 theme. To do this, you need to read this document:

The reason for working with the child theme is to protect you from disaster and to make upgrades to the theme (if any in the future) simple. We don’t change any of the core files.

I suggest create the child theme and then post back so that we can give you simple codes to paste on your style sheet.
