• Hi everyone,

Spam has started to trickle in the comments at my blog and it appears that the author of the WPSpamFree plugin can’t keep working on it.

I’m wondering what plugin people are using that is an effective replacement. What do you suggest?

  • Akismet. It’s effortlessly handled 1,000+ spam comments a month on some of my sites

    I’ll give it a try. Danke sch?n!

Seems like Spamfree is on the decline. Here is a list of plugins I will be trying to fill the gap:

    • Akismet
    • WP Hashcash
    • Cookies for Comments
    • Simple CAPTCHA | Challenge | Did You Pass Math? | AuthImage
    • WP-Hardened-Trackback
    • Comment Timeout

    Also, requiring user registration.

Akismet should be an effective solution. I wouldn’t bother with the others unless you notice far too many spam comments getting past Akismet. Having too many anti-spam plugins can lead to various conflicts.
