We are about to replace our existing website with a new installation of the Ka_dence theme. I want to save the data from the old (existing) installation and transfer it over to a fresh, new installation of WP.

Is doing this a matter of copying and pasting the text into a document and using it from there, or is there a more efficient way? Also, is there a way to download the images on the site to re-upload to the new installation?

Nutshell: Want to start fresh with a new installation of WP. How best to transfer existing data to a new installation?

    Thanks!

  • Usually, i my self use help from plugin like All in One WP Migration to Save Data or Move site. Maybe it’s help.

    Good luck.

Thanks very much. I’ll look into this.

I also agree agree with Adam Muiz, WP Migration plugin will do the task. But you cant do it on “copy/paste folders” method. Your current website database stores its data depending on current website location, but when you try to move that database, new website link will create a mess with links. As the WP Migration tool does it automatically for you, it will be better to use it. but remember, each time you make a backup, it creates a backup file on server, and the backup size every time increases if not older one is deleted. Sometime it may not show that file on backup files list, but it has already taken space for that. And WP migration may not work well if the backup size is quite big. I noticed that if it is something like 150-250mb it works fine.
