Need to recover my FTP Password

  • I know I posted a month ago about this same problem, I more clearly understand what the issue is. To log in I have a specific password that I use on https://www.glutenfreedee.com/wp-admin

    I go to install and update plugins by clicking plugins at the side of the dashboard page. I check the ones that need to be updated, it sends me to a page that has this laid out:

    Hostname:

    FTP Username:

    FTP Password:

    Connection type(which there I choose between FTP and FTP(SSL), I have used the same password for both types and still have this issue).

    I have been told it should be the same password as my login, but when I put that password in;

    I’m sent back to the same page with this error message on top:

    Failed to connect to FTP Server glutenfreedee:21

    I need to somehow reset this “FTP” password, and I have reset the regular site password, and was told that when the site password was reset, it should change the FTP password as well. Any and all help would be much appreciated.

    Hi, I am having the same issue. When I type the Login password in for my FTP password, I receive a message that is an incorrect password. I see that you need to contact the host provider, but we are not using the provider that started our account any more. Is there any other way to retrieve the FTP Password? Please advise.

    The only way to access your FTP is to log in to your host provider if you don’t know the password. Even if you can create a new user for the FTP that will work as well, but you’d need to still get in to your hosting account.

    FTP is actually not part of WordPress – so your current hosts are the only ones who can help you with an FTP problem.

    For the record, we cannot help you to retrieve your FTP password. You need to speak to your current hosting provider about that.

    Hi DJDoubleXL189, thank you for getting back to me. How do I create a new user for the FTP? I can’t seem to locate how to do this.

    You need to contact your hosts – we cannot help you with FTP issues.
