Need to find the BEGINNER board

I’m getting no-where fast. I thought having installed RadioLand and Geeklog that setting up WordPress for my client would be fairly straightforward but I can’t get past even the terminology used here. I know I need to spend a lot more time going through the wiki but it seems my learning curve is Curving DOWN.
I posted earlier that I don’t even understand how the pages of the blog are created beyond the index page.
I posted earlier, too, that I didn’t alter the coding on WP to display categories but that mine go to url not found, I suspect because I changed the permalink thingie. geesh.
Is there any place to Start that is a true beginner’s board or am I just going to have to work harder to go through all the docs here? thanks.

Can you use #irc ?
You could hop into #wordpress on irc.freenode and I’ll chatter ??
If you want, write a long list of what you want to know and mail me – I’ll not only send the answers back but ensure that the wiki contains the info you need so that others can benefit.

Or, list say 4-6 things here and we’ll have a crack at them, but as with any question, the more specific your questiuon, the better the answer. (And I’ll make sure it’s wiki’d this way too)

Thanks, Moshu for the link on creating the static pages! that will definitely solve one of my problems and I’ll get right on that!

braven – once you get through all this, would you be willing to distill what you learned and write up a doc on it? Podz could add it to the T2 arsenal and give us something in beginner speak for beginners by a beginner.

hey Podz, after your emails I actually feel hopeful that I’ll get this operational in time. Thank you!
Permalinks were the problem and for now I’m just gonna do without them, at least till the thrill of having category links that actually work wears off. ?? and I’ll take your advice and play with this thing – see if I can break it.
Moshu, your tutorial for creating static pages works like a dream. I did run into that path-to-header error when I tried using the plugins so your hand-made template has my vote! many thanks to you too.
