nope, it gets overwritten. I guess if I stored the post/page ID with the title, I could differentiate between the posts.

Yup, the post ID trick would solve that problem for sure. ??

Let me know when that’s worked out so I can test it for that functionality as well. :thumbsup

it’s done. the latest download has that functionality.

    lellie,
Currently in the manage->posts screen, drafts are displayed across the top, private/published are displayed in the table.
I’ve got it to where all the “private” posts have a “publish” button that can be clicked to publish the post, without leaving the manage->posts screen. Does that sound good ?
Or were you expecting a completely separate screen for publishing drafts ?

It’s not really private posts that are an issue.. although that could work.. I could get the writers to save posts as private then change them to publish, but I’d rather not have to tell people to change the way they update..

The way our site works is everyone writes all their stories and saves them as drafts.. I then check they’ve editted them right and publish them.. but it would be great if I could view a list of all the drafts and then select through tick boxes all which are ready to publish then click a publish button..

Have you seen the draft control plugin – I asked the original writer of that a while ago if he’d add that functionality but I don’t know if he has the time or anything.. but a rewrite of that would be fantastic.. As that already does the listing of the drafts and stuff so adding teh checkboxes shouldn’t be too hard for a plugin whizz like you! ??

Would anyone find a page draft plugin useful? I was looking for one a while ago. The same thing that the posts have, to be able to classify a page as a draft and not showing up.

Hi VaamYob, I tried to extract and install that plugin, but each time I d/l the .zip file and try to open it I’m told the file is corrupt and can’t get the files out…

Can you reupload that? Thanks in advance.

Well, since I’m more of a Hack and Slash type person, I’d like to see someone create a plugin that allows for local AND online usage of WordPress, i.e., you can submit posts from localhost, and have all of the WordPress functionality, while having an outside URI do the same.

For the theory of how to do it, I’ve though about using MySQL to store the outside URI, and then when the site shows any link, it will check the ip to see who is viewing it, since local types will always be 127.0.0.1, this part should be easy. However, this may prove most difficult to do in an plugin.

    SeanIM,

I just re-created (and verified) the zip file, please try now.

    lellie,

Let me work on it a little more.

you’re welcome.. I’m thrilled that you’re even thinking about doing it.. I never expected someone to actually go and try something..

I wish I had the skills to do my own plugins..

I have a list as long as my arm of ideas to make wordpress amazing or things that could be plugged in to make updating our site easier and add more features..

I just don’t have the time/don’t know where to start.. I’ve read the stuff in the codex and I’m still none the wiser.. I know bits of php and stuff but I just get lost with plugins :S I can read other plugins and work out why/how they work but writing my own is a different story.

    Hi

I am not sure how valuable this plugin would be to others but I have been thinking that maybe this would be useful.

I am looking at building a behind the scenes management tool. It would be for folks to manage customers, suppliers even accounts and maybe stock direct from their website. The idea for the plugin has arrived because we have just developed an online shop plugin for WP. I thought wouldn’t it be cool if this plugin also managed stock. Then from there it was simple to see it as managing customers and suppliers. Ok – so the shop plugin needs some work still! Our lead developer has been ill for the last couple of days and I want him to continue focusing on the shop plugin and the calls for help! In the meantime I found this post and wondered whether it was something you would help with or would be useful.

The sort of scheme I could see happening:
    1. Clients: name, address, tel nos, email, web address, contact dates
    2. Suppliers: name, address, tel nos, email, web address, details of supply
    3. Finances: debit, credit, date of invoice, date paid
    4. Stock, item, ammount, number sold, number remaining
    5. Reports: Clients a-z, suppliers a-z, outstanding debts, stock levels, financial reports month by month, etc…

    What do you think?

    Rich

sounds like something I could use.. the shop plugin is a great idea but it has to have product stock levels for each product or it’s practically useless.. you must be able to set 20 items in stock and once one has sold that should go down to 19..

Ever since I left Movable Type for WordPress (some two years ago) I still miss two simple things:

    1. The image uploading => thumbnail creation => popup link to uploaded full-sized image.
    2. Not a number of posts on the startpage, but all the posts in the current month OR the month that actually has posts, in the case of a month or months that are empty. This is more logical when a pulldown menu is present which lists months.

    Thanks VaamYob,

That zip worked perfectly. I’ll be testing this out later today and will provide any feedback that might be worthwhile, or just another thanks on knocking out a great plugin so fast! ??

    Regards,

    SeanIM

    SeanIM,

How did the static plugin work for you ? I want to release it, but can’t until someone verifies my rewrite rules.
