My wp blog will not show any pictures uploaded to the media library.
It also will not let other themes display correctly and I believe the wp install may be bad. I had uses the atahualpa theme for a long time but recently wanted to change themes and they just don’t look right.
My blog has almost 5000 posts and pages and I cannot afford to lose those with a fresh install.
Is there any way to reinstall wp without losing all of those files? I doubt the import/export will work because I have tried downloading the xml file and tried to load it onto a test blog and it didn’t work.
If I need to use ftp, can you tell me exactly which files to save so they can be reuploaded to a new wp install?
    Thank you

    my blog url is https://debbiedoescouponss.com

When I originally installed wp I used installatron from my host but now installatron isn’t there anymore. Only softaculous is there and it shows no wp installation for my blog.

Well before you do anything make a database back up..
Go into CPanel — backups — click on your wp database.
Also take an xml back up from Wp
Also Keep a copy of your wp-content folder somewhere else on your server
maybe put it in another folder called _old wp_content (that is where all your photos and such are)

You don’t say what version of WP you are running.. so how to upgrade will be dependent on that. I cannot access your site now.

You could also ask your hosts for help, maybe they have a recent back up they can install to at least get you running again. Then You can take the time to upgrade properly.

So I can do those backups and save the wp-content folder and then reinstall another wp(which will overwrite the current one) and then replace that wp-content folder with my other one and also use my backup?

As far as I know, it is the current wp

    hello?

    dragonsjaw

    (@dragonsjaw)

Right now you are using a commercial theme from Studio Press which we can’t trouble shoot because it is a paid for theme.

You said you were using atahualpa theme for a while and then changed themes..
What I would do first is go back to your atahualpa theme and see if you can upload images.
If not that go to the default theme (in this case twenty eleven, or even twenty ten) and see if that works.

Your site is working so the database is still there. I think you have a theme problem not a WP install problem.

Also I hope you know that you have to have the Genesis theme installed in order for the lifestyle theme to work

I do have the Genesis installed and the Lifestyle child theme.

The problem with the media started when I was using Atahualpa

I will switch back to the atahualpa theme in a little while so you can help me
    Thank you

    (@dragonsjaw)

If the problem started with Atahualpa then switch to TwentyTen.
And see if the media problem persists.

You could also go to CPanel –mysql — and look at your database..
where it says ‘check databse’ – click it
if it says there are errors — click repair

    (@myfeethurt)

    I will try that, thanks

    (@myfeethurt)

I switched to the twenty ten theme.
It said there were no errors but I clicked to repair anyway.
It will let me upload to the media files but it will not show the picture.

    Any other ideas?

    dragonsjaw

    (@dragonsjaw)

Fresh out of ideas. Do a complete back up before you do anything else..
maybe someone else on the forum with more knowledge will come along and help you.
