Need host mail service to work?

  • I have a test site set up a low cost server package which doesn’t include email services. Would this be the reason I can’t make the plugin work?

    I get these error messages:
    Set to IMAP
    An error occurred: Error connecting to mail server.
    SEt to POP
    An error occurred: Error connecting to POP3 server

    I have done the setup using the defaults, and have added the mailbox info for a dedicated mailbox I set up on Optimum.

    The test messages I sent are still sitting on the Optimum server, even though my Post by Email settings specified to delete them, so I assume the plugin is not reaching the box.

    May I safely assume that once I move the site to a hosting environment that actually includes email service the plugin will magically start working?
