Need help with logo in header

I have been trying to include a logo along with title and subtitle for my blog in the header space. However, it seems either logo or title-subtitle may be shown. I want to display both in the header. What I am basically looking for is creating a similar look as is seen on Humann demo web. How do I do it ?

Another issue:
When I use [dropcap] tag for a bigger first letter, the letter doesn’t show up in the post preview text. Is there any cure for this ?
