• Hi,

I recently installed this bridge for WordPress and SMF: https://www.dmry.net/wordpress-smf-bridge-plugin-10-beta

It uses WordPress to register users in SMF, login to SMF, and edit their SMF profiles. Or at least, it’s supposed to do that.

I’m able to register through the WordPress registration, and WordPress then successfully creates the account on SMF. However, WP supposedly logs into SMF for me once I log into WP, but when I log in to WP, I’m not exactly logged into SMF.

SMF says (at the bottom) that whatever account I just logged into on WP is in fact logged into SMF and online, however I myself cannot post and am asked to login. I’m thinking maybe the server my WP is on is logged into SMF instead of me (though I could be completely wrong). However, I should be the one logged in instead, as I shouldn’t have to re-login through SMF.

Also, after I go to manually log into SMF, logging out via WP should log me out of both. It doesn’t, and I have to go an log out of SMF on my own.

Does anyone have any experience with the DMRY bridge that can help me sort this problem out? My friend and I were hoping to launch our site in a few days, and I’d rather not have to delay the forum’s opening. Thanks for any help!

Hi, does anyone with understandings of WordPress and SMF know any way to fix this? Sorry to ask again, but we’re launching our site in less than 24 hours…not to rush anyone, if it’s not ready, we launch without the forums. But in case anyone does indeed know how to do a quick fix, it would REALLY be appreciated.

Hi, we launched nearly 2 weeks ago, but without the forums because I couldn’t get this bridge to work. We decided it was okay to launch, since any users that signed up for the WP half of our site are indeed registered for the SMF half, but since it doesn’t auto-login to (and logout from) SMF, we haven’t yet revealed the forums. But the user profiles are in place for when we do, I just need the login/out system to work.

If anyone can help, please do… we would really like to get the other half of our site up, but I have zero understanding of php, mysql, etc.

    Hey raycrp,

My suggestion is, if it says you were logged in…you probably were.

The problem may have much more to do with your own browser than the server, because you probably normally log in as admin.

When you suddenly log in under other usernames, you run into certain confusion. This does not mean that your users will necessarily suffer the same fate.

Anyway, I’ve updated DMRY’s script to take care of certain issues similar to this.

Maybe this will help. Let me know how it goes.
