• Hi Guys

I have a good grounding in using wordpress but have just met a client who wants the following and I havent a clue where to begin. Im not sure if its even possible in wordpress:

Basically the site is for a loyalty card where special offers are given by businesses (merchants) and can be ordered online by anyone. There will be no online payment however.

These merchants will be based all over the country so the person buying the card will need to use a search function to select where they live & a list of merchants will pop up.

They can then select special offers from a chosen merchant and send the details to my client. Also the merchants will be able to set up an account and log in to add more offers to their list etc.

My client hope to have 1000s of merchants in the future (if shes lucky)

I hope thats not too confusing!

Any help on plugins or anything else to achieve this would be much appreciated.

    Cheers
    John

    Sounds like a fun project.

Something like the “Store Locator” plugin might be worth investigating – from the description it sounds like it might help.

Then create a page for each merchant (linked from the proximity search result) and then a child page for each offer under its relevant merchant parent page.

I haven’t tried making anything like this though ;o)

    Cheers Numeeja,

I actually had a think about it though and I might suggest losing the search function and just having each county as a page (on the sidebar), then each town in a county as a drop down sub page and having each merchant as a link inside the subpage.

When you click on the link it would open a new page for each merchant which they can log in to edit. Each merchant page could have a contact form then. What do you think?

Also how would I create a drop down for the sub pages in the sidebar?

    Thanks

Sounds like a plan – sounds like that’ll work

I’m sure there’ll be a widget you can use for your dropdowns. If not it shouldn’t be too difficult to put one together.
