Need help setting up permalink structure

    i’m searching for the right permalink structure setup for my shop and i hope someone could help me achieving what i want.

    situation
    i have a regular wordpress page residing at /shop.
    i want this site to act as my shops main page, but without woocommerce interacting with it/replacing its content. the site is set up as i want it do be, without the need of woo’s generated content.

    what i like to achieve
    i’d like to have a permalink structure depict the following

    – Shop Main
    /shop

    – Categories
    /shop/parent-cat(/child-cat)/

    – Products
    /shop/parent-cat(/child-cat)/product-slug

    what i’ve already tried
    on woocommerce settings.
    if i set my shop page as woocommerce Shop page, the page’s content is replaced with woocommerce cat content. thats not what i want.

    on permalink settings
    if i set the Product category base to “shop” and the Product permalinks to “/shop/%product_cat%/” the product links are working fine, but the category links lead to page not found.

    if i set the Product category base to “shop” and the Product permalinks to Shop base “/shop/” the category links are working fine, but the product links lead to page not found.

    So i think i might be doing something completely wrong. but i can’t figure out what to do to achieve the wanted structure.
    i hope someone can help me out and point me to the right direction.

  • Hi,

    It sounds like ‘Shop base with category‘ is the permalink structure that will get you what you want.

    The WooCommerce shop page is a special archive that lists your products. You can read more about this here.

    You can also choose which products to display on the Shop page by changing the ‘Shop page display‘ drop down under WooCommerce>Settings>Products>Display.

    In addition to these settings, your theme may also be using a specific template for the shop page which might have it’s own custom options.
