• Hi all,

I am trying to follow the instructions for moving my site from mydomain.com/test to my domain.

Here is the process of what i have done so far:

    1. I changed the url of both home and and siteurl in my wp-config.php file (i know i should be able to do this via the setting on my dashboard, but it appears to be greyed out and not editable).
    2. I then copied the files in my test directory over to the root (which contained nothing other than my test folder)
    3. I then accessed myphpadmin where I had exported my DB, and replaced all the mydomain.com/test with mydomain.com
    4. I then imported the revised sql file back online after dropping the previous tables in the DB.

the result is that when going to mydomain.com i only see a blank page.
oddly enough mydomain.com/test is still loading properly as if nothing ever changed.

any idea what i missed here?
    Thanks in advance!

Did you manually do this or use some sort of find and replace script?

Have your hard refreshed as well?

i didn’t do this manually, i did the replacing using notepad and did a search and replace, so i won’t accidentally miss any.

what is a hard refresh? is you mean delete my browser cache, then i did that as well.

    any suggestions?

    thanks again.

    What’s your site URL?

It’s tricky to tell without getting any further access to the the admin or database.

My process for moving a site is to:

    1. Download all files and database
    2. Upload website to new folder (root in your case)
    3. Upload this replacing script to your root then go to it in your browser, and searching and replacing links.
    4. Login to wordpress on the new URL and update permalinks.

In your wp-config is the a site_url field where you have put in your new domain?

i changed the url in the wp-config files to southphiladelphialocksmith.net

is it possible that my htaccess file needs to be modified?

your process seems pretty the same as what I did.

Possibly, as the old site is still showing it leads me to believe that that may be true. Remove it and let WordPress generate a new one.
Do the same with wp-config.php as well if that doens’t work.

Keep a copy of both on your comp though before you delete it off your server.

I just removed the htaccess but it didnt make any change :-/
    any other suggestions perhaps?
    Thanks!
