• Hello! I recently installed WordPress onto my site, which is hosted by Dreamhost. I then went about with the intention to install the ComicPress theme, as my intention is to make a comics website. However, it appears I am an idiot for when I read the following instructions at https://forum.comicpress.org/viewtopic.php?t=3522 and also https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/create-wordpresspowered-webcomic-comicpress/
about how to install the ComicPress theme, I was very quickly left confused.
I don’t understand what the instructions mean when they say: “2. Install ComicPress 2.9 into a directory called “comicpress” in lowercase in your theme directory. Do not install it in a directory UNDER comicpress, install it INTO that directory. Copy the files from the zip file with your ftp program into /wp-content/themes/comicpress”

Can someone explain what this means? Do I need to download a FTP program or does Dreamhost have something I can use in the dashboard? If I need to download a FTP program, which program do you recommend? Should I be dealing with the WordPress editing panel or the Dreamhost editing panel? Some help would be dearly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Because ComicPress is in the WordPress Theme Repository, you can install the theme directly from your WordPress dashboard, you don’t have to worry about FTP.

From your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearances > Themes. Click on the Install Themes tab. In the Search field, enter ComicPress and click the Search button. Click the Install Now link. Once it’s done, you can click on the Activate Now link to activate the theme.
