• Hello there!

I’m trying to find a WordPress theme for a architecture portfolio website I’m going to make for a friend of mine. The issue is: my friend really wants something different and that stands out from the crowd. Particularly on the menu bar – he seems to hate all the themes I showed him because the menu bar on top is lame, or a sidebar menu is ugly, or on the bottom is not intuitive, or a menu inside a mobile-style button is too minimal… and so on. As you can see it has not been easy for me to fulfill this guy’s expectations, mostly on the creative part of displaying a menu (something I’ve never even thought before).

So, can anyone help me? Any cool themes you’d like to suggest me?

    All help is extremely welcome.

    Cheers,
    Bruno

  • Hi

It’s very important to look at the functionality of a WordPress theme instead of a good looking theme.

Here’s some tips for choosing a WordPress Theme.

1.) Free or Paid. – Do you want to start your website with a free or paid template. There are several nice free and paid WordPress themes available. Best is to search one that suite the need of your customer.

2.) Navigation – It play an important role in the website. Yes, your client don’t like a standard navigation menu bar, but it play a big role for users to easily navigate on the website. Use a theme with a standard navigation/menu and customize it a bit to look different with css.

3.) Theme Design Features – Make sure the theme you chose includes features that you need for functionality instead of just a good looking theme.

4.) Support- Make sure the theme developers offer support for the WordPress theme, You may find issues, and need someone to assist you with it.

5.) Browser Compatibility – It’s difficult to say which browser is most used among users. Therefor you must make sure that the WordPress theme is compatible with all major browsers.

6.) Responsiveness -Make sure the theme will look good and work on all types of devices. Most people use tablets and mobile devices these days to browse on the internet.

7.) Customization- Have a look at the theme options and difficulty to make customizations. You might need to change a css element or functionality for the use of your website.

I hope this helps you in choosing a WordPress theme for your client.
