Need guide on free downloadable virtual products

Why are you setting free products as external and not just regular free products?

You can set up free products on WooCommerce, and it doesn’t necessarily need to be an affiliate product.

Here’s a brief guide on how to do it:

1. Go to your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Products, then Add New.
2. Enter your product details, including the title and description.
3. In the Product Data dropdown, select Simple Product, then you can check the virtual or Downloadable options.
4. Set the Regular Price to 0. This will make the product free.
5. Click on the Publish button to make the product live.

Actually, I am using card payments and bank transfers only; will this method also work with that option?

The Card Payment and Bank Transfer payment will work fine.
But you mentioned these are free products so are you referring to paid products here?
