Need Catergory Pages to layout like frontpage

Hi all,

First let me show you what I am trying to achieve. On the Mimbo Pro demo category pages are showing newest post as featured, then a few recent posts then a list of older posts. See here: https://demo.prothemedesign.com/wordpress/mimbo-pro/category/politics/

But I have searched high and low on google trying to learn how to do this but as of yet I have failed miserably. Can anyone point me to somewhere that shows this or is able to give me a few pointers?
