Need advice to make my site look better:

    I asked what people thought about my blog several months ago… However, now I have a different question: how can I make it look more professional? What are the good aspects and the bad aspects?

    I am thinking that I should hire a designer, and want to know what people think about it! Thanks in advance…

  • A new masthead would be a great start. The plain blue texture looks, well, plain. Your site is about entertainment (among other things), but there is very little that is entertaining about the masthead. Something photographic, perhaps; maybe add a script that selects a different masthead image at random on each reload.

    Also, the typographic treatment isn’t very unified. I’d play around with the CSS and tighten the spacing between paragraphs, as well as the spacing below the social network link icons and other elements within each post. Ideally, you want each post to resolve as a unit in the viewers eye; but because the spacing is so spread out, that unity is lost.

    Additionally, I’d try downsizing the sidebar text slightly (as well as tightening the vertical spacing too). In general, I think the sidebar can be downplayed just a bit – it seems to visually compete with the main content area too much.
