Need advice on how to edit from front-end
-
Hello,
I would like some help to work out the best solution for editing existing posts on the front end.
The website I am building is for a cat rescue center. I don’t want to stress the ole’ biddies who will post/edit cat listings by exposing them to the icky back end. I’d rather have them post and edit everything they need from the front end.
I’ve done some looking around for a plugin that will help me, but so far I can’t find anything that will handle custom post types, and the existing taxonomies/tags/custom fields that need to be used in this case.
So….I figured I need to build something customised.
Requirements:
– In addition to regular news posts, they need to create and edit regular cat listings using a custom post type called “pet”.
– Each pet post requires custom fields for various things, multiple taxonomies to be filled out (i.e. type, colour, status, location..) and a few tags (city, and a few other things).
– Every user of the cat shelter should be able to edit any post, or any cat listing. Therefore, there are no author limitations. If it’s a post, and they are logged in, they should be able to edit it.What I need help with:
Although I am not experienced, I’m happy that I could manage to build a form to create new posts. What I don’t know how to do is to setup a form to handle editing functionality for existing posts. I’d be grateful for some advice on this.As I said, I’ve installed several plugins now and they all fall short for some reason (or are simply too cumbersome).
Thanks in advance ??
