• Hi there,

I searched in the forum about my question and i didn’t found anything so here i am opening a new topic.

I recently moved from a blog in wordpress.com for a wordpress blog hosted in my own webhosting (well, I paied for the host, of course).

The thing is that in my blog at wordpress.com i used the theme Neat! by Topi Peltonen and now that i moved my blog i cannot find anywhere the theme for download.
The site of the author is not working properly.

I was wondering if anyone here have the theme or know where i can download it. (I really wanted to keep the old theme)

    Thanks in advance.

  • Not sure what to tell you. It works on my end. I just once again downloaded the zip, extracted it to my desktop, uploaded and activated it – works fine for me so I’m not sure what the problem would be.

The only thing I can think of is make sure the folders aren’t nested. It actually happens a lot around here. The structure should be,

    /wp-content/themes/neat/THEME FILES

OK, I finally figured out that when working in the file manager, after uploading the zip file, I had to change the “extract TO”, creating a “neat” folder.

So now I have the theme installed, BUT the sidebars don’t work.

The theme you are currently using isn’t widget-aware, meaning that it has no sidebars that you are able to change.

What a pain. I don’t understand why this theme can’t just be loaded into the directory with the 700 other themes. I’m probably just going to give up and go find some other theme that doesn’t fit my needs as well. So there goes a month of developing a site based on a theme I liked!

    What a waste of time.

Thanks for your help, though. It’s just one problem after another, and I don’t have the time to invest any further in hopes of piecing this theme back together.

Hi Jack. One thing after another eh? ??

I didn’t even think to check out if the theme is widetized as I don’t use them. I just double checked that right now and it is indeed widget-aware on my end.

I’ll leave the package on my site for the time being in case you want to download another copy and use it. It’s possible something became corrupted during the original download/unzip/upload process.

OK, several hours and a few hundred themes later, I’ve determined that there is no other suitable theme. This means that I’m going to have to learn html so that I can rebuild the Neat! theme from the carcass that I have.

In the mean time, can somebody please tell me how hard it would be for whoever stole the Neat! theme from the directory simply to put it back? Isn’t that a fairly simple thing?

    Jack
