Navigation gone in 1.5

This must have already been discussed but I cant find it, maybe because im too hungover? Im experimenting migrating my site from 1.2->1.5 but have noticed that when you “View an individual” post the navigation disappears. I havent quite decided if I like this or not yet, is there an option to switch it on/off???
