Hi, I installed a fresh install. Created 3 pages. “mainpage” >> subpage 2 nested under “mainpage” >> subpage 3 nested under subpage 2. then I Setup Menu/navigation. When I click on the first “mainpage” the page does not appear. One can only click on the Sub-page. Also, the 3rd subpage does not appear in the menu bar. see https://websitedreams.com/flatbootstrap/

Navigation bar issue persists, no answer from developer… not too impressed.
So I had to install “mega-menu” plugin, which cost me money, BUT it fixed the problems at least I can continue with the job.. Sad that developers start a theme and then loose interest. The only reason I use this theme is because it has a lot of Page Template options… and the Full width page option. Otherwise I would not bother using it.. sorry, but true.

Hi, hartmutnz. The theme’s built-in navigation bar uses core Bootstrap navigation. Bootstrap has both those limitations you state above… Top menu item triggers the drop-down as opposed to being a link in and of itself and the menu system only goes two levels deep.

I’m not sure I agree with them, but the Bootstrap folks believe strongly that in a “mobile first” World, nav menus should be kept simpler and not rely on hover states.

If you want to roll your own menus, you can change the header.php file to not call the Bootstrap-specific “walker” and the theme will spit out standard WordPress menu HTML. You’d then need to add the CSS for those menus to theme, perhaps borrowing it from one of the Twenty-something themes.
