Navigating/Paging Custom Post Types?

    I can get something approaching paging by putting the next_post_link and previous_post_link in the loop for the new query If I put the next_post_link/previous_post_link outside the loop it links to the last new page/post I made.
    The Codex doesn’t cover paging custom post types and I haven’t seen any examples. So I’m wondering if you’re even supposed to be able to page custom types at all.
