Navigating pages in embedded website

Hi, I’ve recently followed the tutorial on how to embed wp into an existing site and that worked great.

The problem is that I’m now trying to use either the posts_nav_link() template or the pagebar plugin to navigate pages, but every time I do this the link takes me away from the site and back to the wordpress blog, instead of populating the webpage with the “previous posts”. To be more specific the page goes from ‘localhost/index.php’ to ‘localhost/blog/index.php’.

I think I’ve seen this done on other sites and it can work.

Any help would be really appreciated.
