I have a website I plan to upload 80 videos.
I want to use your player in a native way.
When I upload a video it plays the video with your player without using any shortcodes. I just want this player to substitute the default wordpress player. Is it possible and if so how?

  • Hello Jack,

thank you for reaching out to us and for your interest in using FV Player!

You can make sure FV Player substitute the basic WordPress player by enabling Settings -> FV Player -> Integrations/Compatibility->Handle WordPress audio/video.

If you’re using our Pro version, then enabling this will also handle YouTube and Vimeo links.

This is great! I’m really looking to get your plugin than. Can it autogenerate post thumbnails based on the video locally uploaded or embeded? Thanks! This is a functionality I’m looking for since when someone share a post on a social media or VOIP client there is no image.

    Hello Jack,

I suppose you mean the featured image of a post. Sadly, no, FV Player does not do this. We have received this request before and we might look into it soon enough.

In the meantime, what we do have, is a handy screenshot button that will allow you to take a screenshot from the video and save it to your WordPress media library. Then you can add that screenshot as a featured image manually. While not automatic, it still is a
    timesaver.

Thank you so much for letting me know! Sadly, I plan to make my website open for a closed community of members to upload using the front end I am really looking into this feature. Thank you once again!

    Hi Jack,

The problem with automatically creating a splashscreen is that if FV Player takes the first frame, there’s a good chance it’s a black screen. If not the first frame, then which frame? There’s a good chance of getting either an unflattering image for even a transition.

The choose a splashscreen functionality is pretty simple. We could work with you to force choosing a splashscreen on upload.

If you are planning to self-host and encode a substantial amount of videos (as opposed to accepting videos hosted elsewhere), you will require a budget for infrastructure and customisation. If you don’t have a budget, I’d recommend not trying to host yourself but just accept videos from other hosting platforms. In that case, splashscreens already exist.

    Cheers, Alec
