Naming of custom templates when saved

  • If I create a custom template and save it at as part of my theme it’s name changes.

    If I create a custom template “Long-form”, it shows up as a user-generated template under the name Long-form. But after saving all changes to my theme, it shows up as “wp-custom-template-long-form” instead.

    How do I get it to show a proper name when saved to the theme?

    OK, this is actually a bug.

    Custom templates aren’t written into the theme.json file, only saved in the template folder.
