Since I first used ACF on German WordPress sites some time ago I have been irritated by the fact that you won’t find an entry named ACF (or Advanced Custom Fields) in the admin menu when you want to access its functionalities.

In German, for instance, the entry is instead called ”Individuelle Felder“, but this is really NOT quite what you’re looking for when you know that you have installed a plugin which is actually called “ACF (or Advanced Custom Fields)“.

To me this is sort of like when you’re looking for a Volkswagen dealership in an American telephone directory and after some time (hopefully) realize that you should have looked for an entry named “People’s Car“ (the translation) instead of ”Volkswagen“… meaning that in my opinion it is definitely NOT helpful when even a plugin’s name gets translated if you’re using a localized version – it seems quite reasonable to me that the original name should always be kept.

So e.g. ”Wordfence“ (laudably) is still ”Wordfence“ in a German language WP-installation and not ”Wortzaun“ (which it would be translated literally).

Hi @peterlohde, thanks for the feedback. We agree! We are making a change to the menu in ACF 6.1 to make it ‘ACF’ instead of ‘Custom Fields’, which should solve the translation issue.

Hi Iain, it’s nice to learn you’re actually considering this. Keep up the good work!
